There are a lot of things that you need to take care of when getting ready for your wedding. With all the focus on the big day, it can be easy to lose sight of the some of the less important details. Like, for example, the rehearsal dinner.
Now, while this dinner is not nearly as important as the wedding itself, it can still be a stressful time for you and your fiancé. With it being positioned so close to the wedding, the potential for wedding jitters is high, and anything that goes wrong might put your intended on edge.
By making sure that you dress properly, and are your normal charming self, you can help to allay any fears she might have.
What do I Wear?
This will depend on the dress code for the rehearsal dinner itself. Where is it being held? A meal at your local seafood restaurant is likely to be a lot less formal than one being held in a five-star hotel restaurant.
Once you know what the dress code is, you can plan accordingly. Speak to your fiancé and find out what they are wearing. Coordinating your outfits would be a nice gesture and would probably go over very well at the dinner.
It also does not hurt to find out what your groomsmen and other male guests are planning on wearing.
Generally speaking, though, a suit and tie are normally going to work for smart casual or formal occasions. If it is super-formal, you might need a tux. If it leans more to the casual in smart casual, you could wear a dress shirt and smart pair of pants.
If it is completely casual, jeans would be just as acceptable.
Getting the Details Right
Check beforehand that the outfit that you are planning on wearing does fit properly, leaving yourself time for alterations to be made, or to look for a replacement if not. What accessories will you wear? A nice watch may be the perfect accompaniment to your outfit.
Once that is sorted out, all you and your fiancé need to do is to enjoy the dinner itself. This is a dry run of what the wedding night is going to be like, and so you will quickly see if details need to be tweaked.
You and your fiancé will go through where to stand, what you are going to say and what the official marrying you will say as well.
Just don’t lose sight of one thing – this is a special dinner, and it is one that you will hopefully only need to go through once in your life. Take time out to speak to your guests and actually enjoy yourselves as well.
Rehearsal dinners can also be a great place to make memories – on your wedding day; you might not get as much of a chance to connect with all your guests. Make this evening count.
And remember as well, even if things do not go as smoothly as you had hoped, it is not the end of the world. It’s better to have a bad rehearsal than a bad wedding day!
