In keeping with the colour scheme the wooden staircases inside were decorated with green foliage and white orchids. The two colours working really well with the wooden backdrop.

Dundas Castle is one of Scotland’s most beautiful and historic castles and is a perfect 5 star wedding venue if you are looking for somewhere to get married near Edinburgh. This wedding was on the 14th November at Drumtochty Castle, an award winning wedding venue in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Gemma from Planet Flowers explains how they created these lovely arrangements, which flowers they chose and why.

This was the brides bouquet, the bride LOVED twinkle!! This bouquet is all Stephanotis, a true bridal flower with an amazing scent. We used an under planting of white hydrangea and as the bride wasn’t too keen on greenery we used an under planting of tight gypsophila to finish the bouquet. As the bridle loved sparkles and twinkles we added diamantes in to some of the Stephanotis so it twinkled when the light caught it.

As the bridesmaid was wearing chocolate we wanted her bouquet to be the start of the autumnal theme, rather than a traditional mixed bouquet we made almost a bulls eye design! Using burnt orange Ranunculus for the centre with a surround of orange orchids and then Hypericum.

The finish of a bridal bouquet is so important – we used gorgeous autumnal ivy to finish the bouquet with chocolate satin ribbon to match her dress.

Last but not least this was the Flower girls miniature version of the bridesmaids – super cute!!

I love the bridesmaids’ and flower girl’s bouquets as they are so colourful and pretty, but also the brides bouquet is gorgeous with the white hydrangea and gypsophila. Lauren Tempany modelled the creations and House for an Art Lover in Glasgow was used to provide an authentic backdrop. Baba-C Designs created some 20s inspired headpieces especially for the shoot which looked amazing too, whilst Authentic 20s makeup was by Ainsley M and hair was by Volume Hair.

What a fantastic shoot – its clear that there were lots of talented people involved and the photos are just gorgeous. I can see these dresses are going to be so popular with all the brides that are loving their vintage inspired weddings.

The dresses by Lindsay Fleming are so classy and elegant and I wanted the photographs to reflect that. It’s always lovely to work with talented people who are 100% into what they do. These images simply reflect a very very beautiful range of dresses. On the day the photography was kept very spontaneous and fun. I like to incorporate this in my fashion work as I think a bored looking model won’t do any product justice. That last one is one of my favourites – Claudia looks amazing, I love black and white photos and the location is superb. This is all the creative work of Elemental Weddings, a husband and wife team based in Edinburgh (who btw have won lots of awards for their work). I always thought that people shy away from Autumn weddings because of the weather and its a bit of a ‘non-time’ but these pictures show that it can be absolutely beautiful, especially with a bit of a sun a lot of love and a good photographer to hand.

PS Ooh I just had to include this one too – the lovely autumnal bouquet.

Every week I like to list a couple of the blogs (wedding ones obviously!) that have been keeping me entertained, inspiring me to write about wedding stuff or where there are a plethora of pics that I can cast my beady eyes on… so this week here goes…..

Given that some of my post popular posts on LMW are on wedding flowers I thought that I would share the Planet Flowers blog with you. I have featured lots of their wedding arrangements in the past and I have to say that their blog has lots of inspiration. I love this recent post with all their autumnal flower arrangements at Lennoxlove House – great to see florists using seasonal flowers in their work – the orange and amber colours give such a warm and lovely feeling to the wedding.

And another Scottish wedding supplier… (I know I featured one last week but I can’t help it that there are lots of good wedding photographers coming out of Scotland!) This week its the Archibald Photography blog that took my fancy – I love peeking at all their wedding photos, stealing some tips and ideas and most importantly checking out all the grooms dressed up in their kilts!. Check out their blog to see some of their recent weddings and work, including the lovely picture (that one there) from their recent wedding fashion shoot for Lindsay Fleming (which has just won Mark a Gold SWPP award). I have to say the dress is beautiful but its really the way that picture is shot and the background that does it for me.

Talking of photographers there is one UK bridal blogger that loves showcasing the work of talented wedding photographers and I can definitely recommend her blog. I always planned to include it in my weekly round up but because there was so much to talk about we ended up doing a bit of an interview with Kat. If you didn’t get to read it yesterday catch up here on my behind the scenes chat with Kat from Rocknrollbride.com and get reading what she has to say about weddings the Rocknroll way!

I have also found a couple of cool blogs that I have been following one of them is ‘Seven Weddings (but only one wedding to organise)’. This is the postings, ideas and thoughts of Gee as she travels to 7 of her friends weddings in the run up to her own. You have to read their engagement story which had me completely taken as its so sweet – who said romance was dead?! Some really cool bits on there, like her post on Swish socks for the groom and ushers. I love a bit of fancy footwork so that sort of thing completely appeals to me (on that note I should post about my husband’s gold shoes that he wore to our wedding!)

And like my post last week on wedding blogs I was going to review 5 of my favourites but already I think I have rambled on enough for one day. I hope that I have opened your eyes to some of the fabulous UK wedding blogs that are out there on the net – let me know your thoughts and recommendations for where else I should be reading and lets share the wedding blog love!

My favourite of these recent shots is this one below- I LOVE the button holes for the gentlemen they are stylish, colourful and aren’t going to droop in the heat as the day goes on. Gemma (the florist) has said previously that it is great to see brides choosing colour in their arrangements and it makes for some really beautiful photos.

These shots are from a July wedding at Wedderburn castle in Duns, Scotland. The Castle is absolutely gorgeous and a perfect wedding venue for religious, civil or humanist weddings. I think that I will have to do a proper post on that venue sometime soon. More importantly though are these fantastic floral arrangements, created by Gemma and Rachel for the wedding and shot by Rankine Photography. A real summer garden feel, soft and romantic – hydrangeas, eustoma, lavender, rosemary, roses, alchemilla mollis, stock, bupleurum, peonies and mint.

Its great to see them sourcing local, seasonal flowers in their arrangements, some of which they grow themselves. Lets hope that they continue to send in photos of their work and anyone in Scotland looking for a wedding florist its clearly worth having a word with these ladies.
