Sample Sale at Morgan Davies Bridal Boutique

I love Morgan Davies… I might be biased because it’s where I got my wedding dress from. They were fantastic and made me feel like a million dollars.
I always wax lyrical about them and its not just me.  4 or 5 of my friends  also got their dresses from there and they all have equally good reports (check out Gemma in this real life wedding).

A very successful bridal party with Morgan Davies Bridal

The Lucky Winner
The lucky winner of the free competition to win an Alan Hannah Dress

It was great to hear from the ladies at Morgan Davies Bridal boutique that last night’s bridal party in London was such a success.  Sarah Lakin, the lucky winner of the free competition to win an Alan Hannah wedding dress also happened to be at the party so it was celebrations all round.  It was a fantastic competition that I covered here on the site a couple of weeks ago and what a great prize – I wore an Alan Hannah ‘All that Jazz’ dress to my wedding and LOVED it– he is, in my eyes, a brilliant wedding designer.

Not only that it sounds like the whole evening was a roaring success – I was gutted to have missed it actually, as I heard that there were lots of brides to be there and lots of fabulous suppliers.  There was Cando photography (I have already featured some of his work in my real life wedding sections – the very popular post on Gems and Ali’s real life wedding in Yorkshire), Penny from Tigerlily wedding planning, who I am dying to meet and have heard great things about, and Annalize and all the crew from Morgan Davies Bridal to name but a few.   Bertie Bow who is a singer and violinist provided the music all evening long – according to the guests she was brilliant and  ’should sing everywhere’.

Boutique Bridal Party at the Zetter

Boutique Bridal Party at the Zetter

The event was held at the stylish Zetter hotel, in Farringdon, giving brides the chance to see the bridal suite, which apparently is the perfect place to get ready for your wedding. What a shame I didn’t get to make it, but so glad it was such a success. Many congrats to Sarah, who won the competition – I bet you are going to look gorgeous in your dress and I can’t wait to hopefully cover your wedding in our real life weddings section.

Its good to hear a few words from Annalize who organised the event.

“Morgan Davies hosted their very first Bridal Boutique Party at the Zetter Hotel last night.  We had some wonderful brides attending.  There was lots to see, infact if you were a savvie bride you could have almost planned the whole wedding under one roof, which is what we entended.  Brides are busy and the whole evening was set up to make your life easy.  The contributors are tried and tested and recommended by Morgan Davies on a regular basis.  It was lovely for girls to meet the people behind the business cards and see that they all wanted to make a bride’s day as special as possible.  We had a wonderful informal fashion show, wich showcased a selection that has something for everyone.  Jenny Packham, Alan Hannah, Blue Bridalwear, Jesus Piero and new designer Stephanie James were amongst the featured gowns.  The Zetter Hotel had some lovely canapes to try and each girl had a glass of champagne on arrival.  We also had a draw for some prizes, which were jewellery from Dinnie Hall, something secret from Tallulah Lingerie, 3 tiara’s from Morgan Davies, a wedding bouque from Dansk and of course the all important Alan Hannah wedding dress which was won by Sarah Lakin, much to her surprise”

This is the list of tried and tested suppliers as recommended by Morgan Davies, based in Islington – I will I am sure get round to speaking with each one of them individually and covering their ‘wears and tears’ in more detail.

Real life Wedding – Gems and Ali

A relaxed family wedding in Yorkshire, England. I just love covering Real Life Wedding and this is no exception – these amazing photos are taken at Gems and Ali’s  rustic and very laid back wedding in the Yorkshire Dales. What a gorgeous couple and what a brilliant day –  according to Gemma it was a small, family relaxed wedding with fresh flowers, vintage buses and lots of music and laughter.

Gems looked absolutely stunning in a dress and shrug from Morgan Davies, the fantastic gold peep toes from LK Bennett and the garter borrowed from her sister, Nix.  Her bouquet was made for her by her talented sister (who is a garden designer and can work wonders with wedding flowers) from seasonal fresh flowers, whilst the confetti was dried lavender and cornflowers in small net bundles tied together with white ribbon. The bridesmaids wore their own choice of dresses.

They hired vintage buses from Yesteryearcars.co.uk to take the guests to and from the church which just looked fantastic, whilst the happily married couple travelled in style in an old vintage car (from Classic Vintage and Travel). The wedding reception then took place at the home of a great family friend where they wined and dined the night away and enjoyed the beautiful gardens.  Thanks to Ali and Gems for letting me cover their wedding and for Orhan from Candophotography for sharing these great pics with us.The couple also had a celebration in London for some of their family and friends but mostly their parent’s family and friends who we weren’t able to invite to the intimate Yorkshire wedding because their numbers were so tight.

Gemma’s best bit about the day:
“The service for me – the incredible music we had and saying our vows – I felt so present and so emotional. It still makes me well up when I think about it”

Win a beautiful Alan Hannah Wedding Dress

What a fantastic wedding competition – a chance to win a wedding dress from Alan Hannah (up to £1800) in association with Morgan Davies Bridal. Alan Hannah must be doing something right as he has won numerous bridal awards and his latest collection is beautiful. In order to be in with a chance of winning you just need to answer the question – what is the name of his latest collection. (a quick Google search will do)

Not only will you be entered into the free competition but your entry will also get you an invite to the Morgan Davies Boutique Bridal party at the Zetter Hotel on Wed 19 August (6-8 PM) where there will be lots of fun to be had and a chance to meet with some of the best wedding suppliers in the capital. Not only that there will also be an informal show of Alan Hannah’s latest creations, and the hotel is pretty funky so its definitely worth a visit. Morgan Davies Bridal Boutique – the best

I was recommended Morgan Davies in Islington by one of my great friends – I heard that they were absolutely amazing and its true they were. I had an appointment with Annalize, who had come highly recommended and she was fantastic. From the moment I arrived with my mum and maid of honour I felt completely relaxed. I loved the way that she knew all her dresses so well and could instantly see what would suit me (completely not what I had thought).

One of the things that I liked about Morgan Davies Bridal is that they stock numerous designers so you aren’t just limited to one designer, and in the same way the dresses vary in price so you will be likely to find something within your budget – from what I remember the dresses range in price from about £1300 upwards to £3000 (and then you pay for alterations -there are 3 packages and there is bound to be one that is right for you)

Jenny Packham

Jenny Packham

They stock dresses from a variety of top bridal designers including Alan Hannah, Rosa Clara, Suzanne Neville, Cymbeline, Jenny Packham and lots of other gorgeous bits and bobs. I had planned to just buy my dress from there when I fell in love with an Alan Hannah creation, but I ended up getting a beautiful ostrich feather shrug from Jenny Packham, and all my accessories too. They also fit me for a corset style basque which kept everything in the right place and provided support for me in my strapless dress. The accessories, Halo and co and Babe, are really stylish and vary in price too.

Once I had chosen my dress the after service was fantastic – it was ready earlier than I expected and I had at least 3 fittings to make sure that everything was in order and fit perfectly. The fittings are done in a little shop across the road where they do all the dress alterations and the lady there that runs the show is fantastic and I found the whole process really special.

Its definitely worth asking for Annalize– she is so experienced in this area that she is guaranteed to find you something that really fits in with your sense of style. She has lots of good bridal tips too and can help accessorize the perfect outfit. Rumour has it her husband is an excellent photographer so might be worth speaking with her about that too (more on that soon)

As a final word I have sent at least a couple of friends there too and both of them have decided on Morgan Davies as the place to get their dress , – boutique, stylish, good value and with a great taste in fashion I can’t see how anyone could have anything other than a fantastic experience. If you are getting your dress from there or know of anyone who did please leave a comment and let me know your thoughts.
