Hi everyone,
I’m very excited to be guest blogging for Little Miss Wedding and thought I should start by telling you all a bit about our wedding and giving you an overview of where we are in our preparations.
Graham and I are getting married on the 3rd April 2010 and I started my own wedding blog, Our Day by Design, back in May, to document all of our planning and any ideas along the way. I have enjoyed it a lot more than I ever thought I would, it’s become a part of my everyday life and I have become totally immersed in reading other blogs too, mostly wedding related but some others as well.

Our journey started last September, when Graham took me to New York, where he proposed at the top of the Empire State Building. Soon after, we chose our wedding party {5 bridesmaids, a flowergirl, the best man & 2 ushers} before we started looking at venues and set the date for Saturday 3rd April 2010, which happens to be Easter Saturday. As part of my wedding preparation, in January this year, I started doing Weight Watchers. I found the plan fairly easy to follow and by taking it slowly, I have managed to lose 2 and a half stone to get to my goal weight. Now I just need to maintain it until April as my fabulous dress has already been ordered!
I would say that our wedding is going to be fairly traditional in that we are getting married in the church where I was christened, in the town where we both went to school, and having our reception at a country house hotel with its own grounds, near Edinburgh. I have the ivory dress and the full bridal party as well as wonderful old cars but we are also trying to personalise the day to us and the time of year! So far this includes the use of my favourite colour; lots of ribbon; painted wooden letters with our initials; tables named after buildings in New York {since we got engaged there and it fits with my profession as an Architect}; my favourite flowers mixed with some spring blooms & mini Easter egg favours. I will also be making all of the stationery myself.
After being engaged for over 14 months, we have managed to get quite far in our wedding planning. So far we have booked the church; reception venue; photographer; cars; band; cake; florist; chair covers; make-up company & our fabulous honeymoon which I’m so excited about already! We have also ordered my dress; the bridesmaid’s dresses; the rings & Grahams Kilt. The only purchases we have made are the flowergirls dress; wooden letters & the invitation supplies and we have also set up our gift list. I completed my first DIY task of making the Save the Date cards and I’m ready to get started on the invites.

Gaynor and husband to be Graham
It does sound like a lot and we have definitely accomplished all the major tasks, apart from making all the invitations, which is the next thing on my list. We are going to Florida for two weeks at the start of December so I’m currently trying to think of anything I might need to get while we are there, especially things that I can’t get in the UK. I’m thinking it could be a good place to look for my shoes or some honeymoon attire and I have seen some favour boxes which would be perfect but cant be shipped here!
With 143 days until the wedding, we still have lots to do and our to do list is probably longer than the tasks done list which is slightly worrying but will give me plenty to share with you all over the coming months!
Hope you enjoy reading!
Gaynor
