Hi there - I was so excited to see Lola and read her exciting story...! I've just launched a company in the beautiful seaside town of Whitstable. I have two caravans for hire - one a very rare 1971 Cheltenham Roebuck - decked out in polka dots...! And a totally awesome aluminium 40s style teardrop trailer...! Both can be slept in - think retro honeymoon or vintage put me up...! Photo booth...? Or retro backdrop...?

Please check out my website www.retro-caravan-hire.com and let me know what you think...!

Love it - it is soooo cute! I can certainly picture a bride & groom smooching in front of it (or in it!) for some of their wedding photos. And it's great that Duncan, in the comment above, was able to reminisce about good times when coming across this post. Warm & fuzziness :)

Looking at this caravan took me back to Melrose in Scotland at a time when i was about 4 years old.My Mum,Dad and elder sister went on a camping holiday to a campsite. The car we used was a Standard10 (dont know the manufacturer). The caravan was very small, it had gas lighting that made a whoomph noise when they were lit.The sofa seats folded down to make a double bed and all four of us had to sleep in that bed.During the night droplets of water that formed on the ceiling would drop down on us.
To get out of the bed to get a drink meant one had to clamber over the person you were sleeping next to and there was a kitchen within 12inches of the bed end.
I loved that caravan. My grandparents (on Dad's side)owned many a van. They used to have one at Alanby (?) on the coast and my sister and I would visit them then go for a walk across the beach, the water would recede about a mile out.
Amazing the memories your picture brought back, and I found this site purely by chance.Wonderful.
Thankyou.
