If your wedding day is approaching and you suffer from migraines, you may be worried that you will experience one at the worst possible time. You don’t want to be walking down the aisle and suddenly be hit by a splitting headache. So, to ensure that doesn’t happen, we’ve put together some of the best tips to help you cope with migraines on your wedding day.
Stay Hydrated and Full
It might not be difficult to find plenty to eat on your big day, but just be sure that you are eating something at least every three hours to keep the migraines at bay. Don’t get so busy with wedding details that you forget to eat, otherwise, you are likely to regret it.
You should also stay hydrated all day long. Becoming thirsty can trigger migraines, and you should have a bottle of water with you at all times, except when you walk down the aisle, of course.
For many people, stress is a big trigger for migraines. If you can avoid stressful situations, you should be able to avoid the majority of migraine attacks. That may be difficult on your wedding day, but remember that you have bridesmaids, groomsmen and possibly even a wedding planner to assist you. Use their help to take care of any details that might lead to stress for you and don’t try to do everything yourself. Also, remember that not everything has to be perfect on your wedding day. If something goes slightly wrong, most people aren’t even going to notice, and you should just plan to keep things rolling and not draw attention to any mishaps as a way to avoid stress on the day.
Decompress Ahead of Time
Stress can build up over time and reach a boiling point where it becomes incredibly pervasive. You want to make sure that doesn’t happen by de-stressing ahead of the wedding day. Spend the day before in a spa, getting a massage, doing some yoga or just otherwise relaxing. Don’t worry about all the little details, and plan to give yourself a little time off before the big day. You may feel like you have too much to do to take a break, but if you don’t give yourself time to cool down and relax, then you will probably suffer a migraine at the worst possible time.
It’s very important to take time to pamper yourself and chill before your wedding day. Weddings are stressful enough without having a supply of stress built up before the big day. You want to offload all the stress that has been piling up over the last however many days, weeks and months and ensure that you are relaxed on your wedding day.
Be Careful about Medicating
A lot of migraine sufferers will medicate up heavily before and during their wedding day. That can come back to bite you later, though, as you may end up sick for your honeymoon, if you use a lot of medications in the days before. Use your migraine treatments sensibly and only when you need them and you’ll vastly reduce the potential for any nasty side effects.
